1.1 System Components

Main Control Unit TPCU

TPCU is the main control unit. There is a 10.4" touch TFT color LCD, an emergency stop switch, a rotary knob and two keys at the front side.

ESPU (Option)

ESPU is an optional card of M83. It provides 4 inputs, 4 relay outputs , a connector of additional handwheel, and an interface to control spindle.

ESPU is driven via EtherCAT. There is a pair of EtherCAT connectors on it to connect with other EtherCAT devices.

The pin definition please refer to 9 Integration Install.

When to use ESPU

When CNC program execution is needed

Use standard G-code to execute three-axis CNC program.

When spindle control and other I/O need to be integrated into M83

M83 could control the inverter to drive the spindle and manipulate the I/O on ESPU. User could manage whether the start/stop, the direction, the rotating speed of spindle, or access the I/O directly through the user interface of M83.

 When rigid tapping is needed

To enable this function, spindle needs to equip with a rotary encoder, which is read by the inverter and return it to ESPU. The spindle driver is required to control at least 0~100% load, and the speed changing resolution less than 1% to accomplish this function.

When external hand wheel is needed

If the machine spans a wide area, an external hand wheel could be used in manual movement instead of using the knob on TPCU.
